We were pleased to help Ayrshire Cancer Support when they approached us to see if we would be able to make some storage units for their charity shop in Newmarket Street in Ayr. The units were required to store donated bags before they get sorted by the shop team.
Several visits were made to the shop to discuss the requirements with the shop manager and workers, and after discussion and a bit head scratching, a design was agreed on.
Our thanks go to MGM Timber in Prestwick for their support and assistance with supplying the wood for the project.
The four units were designed with removable slats so that they can be put in as more bags are added, and taken out to give access to the stored bags. The units were screwed to the wall to keep them secure.
The team of Troon Men’s Shed members spent a number of days working on the project, with all work being done on site, and we hope that they will help the shop with the storage of bags of donated items.
